We worked with the artisans at G. Inglese to develop a slightly modernized take on the classic safari jacket. The result is a luxurious take on that iconic garment, made by hand with the same care G. Inglese puts into its amazing dress shirts. We kept the traditional buttoned chest pockets but gave the hip pocket a sweeping patch shape with no buttons for easier access and a streamlined silhouette. The collar has generous proportions and the waist is adjustable with buttons. This version in an alternating wale corduroy is classic, a bit retro and a pleasure to pair with diverse outfits such as a rollneck sweater and flannel pants, or a tee and washed jeans.

About this Maker

G. Inglese

This family atelier in Puglia makes shirts fit for a king

Ginosa is a small village in Puglia, known to some for its Gravina, an amazing archeological formation of ravines, caves and churches carved into the rock.    It is also home to G. Inglese, a small haberdashery and shirt maker known of sartorial aficionados for years, and catapulted into the headlines when Angelo Inglese was selected by Prince William to make his wedding shirt.

Angelo Inglese's desire to perpetuate traditions transmitted from his grandfather often pushes him to dig out archives and replicate patterns and skills now gone from the world of shirtmaking.   We have seen a lot of high end shirts, and had never seen a handmade shirt to the level of G. Inglese's.
