"Based on US Navy trousers from the 30's these are kind of just the optimal fit. In modern days, we love a good taper, these trousers taper in two places that I think are important, the hem and the waist. The hem cleans the shape up beautifully and the waist makes it fit like a glove, especially when the rise is higher and the seat is spacious.
