"The marble print making up the lining is created using a technique traditional to Kyoto. Dyes are mixed with an epoxy, and then twisted and combined with other colors by kneading. The finished product is turned and distorted on multiple sides, giving you the patterns found in each rhombus making up the motif. With the varying blues, it's meant to resemble the refractions of water, while I see it more as a pattern you'd find on groovy vintage ties - both very cool."---Ludwin

About this Maker

Blue Blue Japan

The undisputed masters of Japanese indigo garments

Indigo is more than a dye at Blue Blue Japan – it is the lifeblood of the company, coursing through nearly everything they produce. They name says it all, with production entirely in Japan and just about all of it blue. Launched in 1996 in Tokyo as the in-house brand of OKURA, the brand has grown slowly, amassing a cult-like following of indigo lovers worldwide.

The beauty of using natural fibers and all natural indigo is in the initial saturated blue color that will fade over time to match the wearer’s body and habits, only getting more beautiful with age. Not content to focus only on indigo, the Blue Blue Japan line is the one to look to for specialized Japanese techniques in other natural dyes, patterns, and methods of construction.
